Your College Experience is What You Make of It. When you arrive at Lucky, it will be the first day of your campus experience and as a resident at Dorm@Lucky! Everyone on our team will be anxiously awaiting your arrival and will be there to help you make this transition as easy as possible. We’ll see you soon!
The term community is an important one to us. The emphasis at Dorm@Lucky is to build a community and an experience through shared responsibility. Together, we’ll create the environment in which you’ll live, and together we’ll all create the experience you and your neighbors will have.
During your college career, you will need plenty of time to study, sometimes late into the evening. You will need to sleep, some more than others. You will also need time to socialize. Half of your college experience is found outside of the classroom: discussing new ideas with friends, participating in sports, clubs, or the Greek system. Everyone will be studying, sleeping, and socializing at different times and on different days. This means that we all need to be aware of our neighbors and support their right to succeed academically and socially. We ask that you respect all of the individuals on your floor and throughout the building.
Group living is dynamic. A successful community reflects the ability and willingness of its members to create and maintain healthy relationships. This requires continuous effort and compromise. Our residence life team and staff are on hand to help with this process. They are warm, caring individuals who have been where you are and will listen and provide guidance and opportunities for social and educational information, as you need it.
We hope that you will play an active role at Dorm@Lucky and help contribute to the success of the community. We ask that you come prepared to compromise and to take advantage of the opportunities that will be provided. Our goal is to ensure that you gain insight into your own development as a result of your participation in our program.
Steve Brown Apartments owns and manages Dorm@Lucky. For many years, the company owned and managed Madison’s Private Residence Halls. During that time we had thousands of students come through our doors, and we ran many of the same programs you’ll find today at Dorm@Lucky.
Our fully trained residence life staff is always available to provide advice, to offer educational support, and to plan all of our social events. It is our goal to ensure that you will be able to maximize your academic performance and succeed in a relaxed, enjoyable, and rewarding social setting. Welcome!
We're Here to Help As You Transition to Living Away From Home
As with anything worthwhile, it will be you who determines the success of your experience. We look forward to sharing an exceptional year with you!
Move In Day!
There are two official move-in days at Dorm@Lucky:
2021 Early Move-In Day:
August 23rd from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
2021 Standard Move-In Day:
August 29th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Most residents (about 85%) sign up for early move-in so they can participate in Dorm@Lucky’s Welcome Week. Coming early lets you get used to college life and meet friends before you have to hit the books. Our event schedule will be available on move-in day, and includes outdoor adventures, laser tag, campus tours, cookouts, sports events, and more! Sign up for EMI here.

Three Things to Know Before You Arrive
We’re happy to accept any packages that are shipped on the day of, or after, your arrival. Unfortunately, we cannot allow you to leave boxes with us prior to your move-in day, nor can we accept packages that arrive early, or that do not have your name and apartment number on them.
Any packages you are planning to have shipped to the property should use this address format: your name, 777 University Ave., your apartment number, Madison, WI 53715.
Your apartment number is provided in the same letter that has your roommate matching information and floorplan.
Your first installment (due 8/1 – BEFORE move-in) and the balance of the security deposit ($250) must be paid before we can hand over your key! As a reminder, your second installment is due 9/1 regardless of when you move in. We encourage you to pay using the same online portal you used when applying. If you didn’t apply online, an email with your online payment enrollment code will be sent to you shortly before move-in.
Your roommate’s information (if you have one) will be confirmed in early August. We encourage you to use social media and email to start to get to know them. If you find that you are having trouble getting along with your roommate, we encourage you to talk to any of our Resident Assistants. They are trained to help you work through your differences. We’ll do our best to help you, but you should be aware that switching roommates is not a likely solution.
What You Need and What’s Included
Your suite will come with a LIVING ROOM set that has a sofa, slipper chair, coffee table and end table. The size of the unit you are in will determine exactly how much furniture the living room comes with.
Your BEDROOM will come with a writing desk and chair, and a comfortable bed. Bunkable twin beds are provided for residents in doubles, and full beds are provided for residents in singles. Closets have organizers with drawers in them. If you are sharing a bedroom, each roommate will have his or her own writing desk. The beds are standard size – no long sheets are necessary!
The KITCHEN has a refrigerator, a quick cook Advantium oven (stove/microwave combo), a range top, and a dishwasher. There are plenty of drawers and cabinets as well. We do not limit the appliance types you can bring.
